Marie’s Collective is more than just a small business to me—it’s a way to carry on the creativity, love, and memories of my Maw Maw Marie.

Growing up, my Maw Maw always knew her way around a sewing machine. She used it in the practical ways that so many women of her generation did—patching her kids’ clothes, fixing things that were worn or torn, and making what they already had last a little longer. She taught me some of the basics of sewing when I was younger, and although I didn’t realize it at the time, those simple lessons would eventually mean so much more to me.

After my Maw Maw passed away, I started using her sewing machine. Sitting down at her machine and learning how to use it on my own made me feel connected to her in a completely different way. What started as simply wanting to sew and create with something that had belonged to her quickly became something I truly loved. Every project made me want to learn a little more.

Eventually, I decided to buy a sewing machine of my own. From there, I started teaching myself more and more—trying new techniques, watching tutorials, making mistakes, starting over, and figuring things out as I went. With every project, I became more confident and started dreaming up new things I wanted to make.

What began with simple sewing projects has slowly grown into a collection of handmade pieces that I’m so proud of. I’ve continued to experiment with different fabrics, vintage and repurposed quilts, apparel, bags, accessories, and other handmade goods. More recently, I’ve even taught myself embroidery, which has opened up an entirely new way for me to personalize my pieces and bring more of my ideas to life.

One of my favorite parts of Marie’s Collective is that I’m always learning. There’s always another technique to try, another product idea in my head, or another piece of fabric waiting to become something new. I love that the business continues to grow right alongside me.

The name Marie's Collective is a tribute to my Maw Maw and the role she played in starting all of this without either of us ever realizing it. I like to think that a little piece of what she taught me lives on in everything I create. What started at her sewing machine has grown into something I never could have imagined, and I’m so grateful that I get to share it with all of you.
